NOPE Redux!

It seems that somebody likes pain!

iroxinping is reviving NOPE for a Tribes 1 (not 2, 1) revival on the TeamWarfare Tribes CTF ladder. He already has a roster, as follows:

Wish them good luck. We will try to get the member pages updated as soon as possible (read: I will try to find my password as soon as possible). :p

This means that NOPE is (potentially) accepting new recruits once again. Read our policy page; if you like what you read, contact us in our channel, #N, on Dynamix IRC. iroxinping is currently handling administration for NOPE, T1 branch.

T1 still lives

Check out the OGL and TheLadder. I had the exact numbers but stupid site timed me out before I could hit the button so they were lost. Since I'm lazy you'll just have to check it yourself.

But here's the bottom line. T1 has about half the active tribes compared to T2. A bit more than half in the US (51vs34 or so) and a bit less than half in Europe (60 vs 25 or so).

Says a little something about the quality of T1 vs T2 doesn't it. 2.5 yrs old and it's still hanging on. T2 on the other hand, a brand new product, struggles to gain the upper hand.

Hubba hubba hop hop hop

Ahahahaahahahaahahahahahahaahahahahah

(*manic laughter continues echoing through the dark, empty halls of the asylum*)

(A lonely light is blinking slowly in the center of the room, illuminating a pale face. Drooling on the keyboard, the aforementioned german formerly known as "Slightlymadicane" sits motionless before a computer screen, breaking out in manical laughter in irregular intervals)

(slow fade to black...)

Report from the Asylum

Hello there, I just thought I'd let yall know I finally found Hurri. He's been posting news from cell 24 at the maximum security center for mentally ill patients just outside of Bonn.

He's gotten better at taking his pills now though so expect lucid posts from now on.

PS: Play T1!

Umlauts are your friend

Really, they are. Did you know last week "ü" helped an old lady across the street? I bet you didn't.

Or, in the 19th century "ö" and his companion "Ä" fought the French "ê" and "â" and managed to drive them back to france. Hooray for Umlauts!

Pubs still suck

no surprise there, eh? It's virtually impossible to find a decent game on the public servers. *sigh*

(Pssst. Try FF1 in T1. No, really, it's usually quite good. -Mas)

The old forums ain't gonna be coming back online.

Forums...

... are currently up and down as they see fit.
Reason being the house which houses the server is getting its entire power grid redone. It's been up and down for about 2 months now and it will likely take another few weeks untill the server has power 24/7 again.

I somewhat doubt anybody misses them much, but in case you do now you know why. :)

I got it! My T2 finally arrived...

...and it even runs w/o any problems. :-)

Monday, April 9th 2001 @ 17:29 EST - Hurricane

still no T2...

...in the meantime, check out PA's latest cartoon, it's rather...fitting. :p

Monday, April 9th 2001 @ 06:45 EST - Hurricane

Deutsche Post...SCREW THEM.

I'm still waiting for my package with T2 in it. The US version was supposed to be with me on April 5th. Current date is April 10th. So I ordered the german version on Wednesday, and they promised I would get it by Friday. Guess what? I still haven't got it. Maybe it'll come on Monday, but I don't believe in that. It's all a sinister plot to keep me from playing, thats what it is. :-p

Anyhow, hope to see you out on the servers sometime soon.

Reminder to people applying...

We are not taking applicants right now, due to the little thing about being retired at the moment. Thank you for the interest, though.

Tuesday, February 13th 2001 @ 17:36 EST - TuxKamen

*Gloat*

Time to get back into OGL lads. My ADSL finally arrived. Fancy ~100 pings to east coast? I do, and I got 'em. I'm coming for you yanks!

(Yes, I'm really still actively playing T1. Although I feel like the only noper still going at it.)

Monday, January 22nd 2001 @ 17:15 EST - Mascot

I like to think...

...that we retired gracefully. ^_- Anyway, I'll be on vacation for a week or two (which happens to coincide with a certain hiatus for a certain piece of software the identity of which cannot be disclosed). Christmas in Vegas, baby. ...'sucked and died.' Honestly. :p

Wednesday, November 29th 2000 @ 09:37 EST - Hurricane

Did I tell you

I can run by a friend's house and play this any time I want? Oops, sorry Hurri. :P

The only news I can think of is I'm almost in the top 10 on the euro ladder. Very interesting, no?

Wednesday, November 29th 2000 @ 04:38 EST - Mascot

Arrrrgh....me so jealous!

Tux, you rotten, filthy and most of all LUCKY Son-of-a-bitch. I'm so jealous. Harrgn.

Hurri

(Oops, this is supposed to be news...er...I've had pasta for dinner yesterday. True E/N news just for you.)

Just passing by. You haven't seen me. ;-)

"Worst...movie...EVER."

It'll make you laugh...

"..Badly bleached 'waitress hair' and Julia Roberts' cast off cleavage popping 'Erin Brockovich' wardrobe bring out the actress' shriller instincts, and when a forlorn Trevor yells at a pickled Arlene, 'I hate the way you are, I hate that you're my mother!' Hunt goes near apoplectic with Motivation, first slapping the kid, then covering her mouth in movie style horror." --Lisa Schwarzbaum, EW

It'll make you cry...

"To put it mildly, it is uncomfortable and embarrassing to have one's cynical ass whipped by a huge, hulking Hallmark card." -Gregory Weinkauf

..it'll probably annoy you intensely.

"...I'll calm down now, but not before I say this: 'Pay It Forward' gladhands so brazenly -- for awards, for publicity, for love -- that although the press materials request critical collusion in not revealing the ending, I am going to reveal the ending." --Lisa Schwarzbaum, EW

"...The melodrama in this disgusting, insulting heap of filmmaking includes Simonet, whose face is burned just enough so Trevor's mother, Arlene (Helen Hunt), doesn't scream like an electrocuted monkey when she goes to kiss him." --Mr. Cranky

This...is 'Pay It Forward'.

If you do read it, Schwarzbaum's article discusses the ending. It's probably not something you should read if you seriously intend to watch and see the movie; otherwise, you'll probably start laughing at the critical moments, as I do with our Other Favorite Burn Victim, Ralph Fiennes, in The English Patient. But, forewarned is forearmed:

See the review

"If I do anything in my life to change the world, it will be to urge you to not see Pay It Forward. And then you'll tell three of your friends, who will tell three of their friends..." --Tim Bennett, checkout.com

He zaps in...

...writes a few lines (okay, so it's just one line...)

...and zaps out again.

Forum availability

Just a note to the keyboard happy.. If you should for some strange reason be trying to get to the forum (you're likely the only one), you won't. The domain it resides on is currently going through a changeover in nameservers that's taking a bit longer than expected.

On the bright side, I'm willing to bet my paycheck it'll be back online well before T2 is even near the store shelves. I'm also willing to bet a twinkie it won't actually take more than a few days longer now.

Update: Back online.
